This is my first attempt at re-creating a DPS on in design, I really struggled with a lot of the aspects of this section of the course and couldn't quite get to grips with the programme. Later on my teacher helped me a lot to create a better version of this.

Writing experiment 1st, 2nd, 3rd person narrative

Writing experiment.
1st person narrative voice-youth subculture, mild taboo.
I’d rather get my rat out then get identity theft, its fucking shit crack! My ex freshie had a proper whitey when he realised some arse sucking pikey had nicked off with his coin. Got some money off me; only on tick mind. Apparently he’d allowed his details to be shared on an un-padlocked site, fucking wanker; suppose he was only a young’en mind. £250 went missing after he’d taken a slash, shouldn’t have smoked so many bongs and paid more attention to his bank accounts. He went to the officials about it, they said they’d launch an investigation, some other people had the same issue, could be months before he got his money back though.

One advantage of 1st person narrative voice is that you can get an in depth study of what your main person is thinking this allows for opinions and a certain perspective. However a weakness of this kind of narration is that the view is limited; other people’s thoughts and opinions cannot be accessed and the story can only be seen from one point of view.
Taboo words need to be used with care as they can often cause extreme offence to audiences, some taboo words often give a physical effect to people; for example ‘fucking cunt’ can cause people to have a sort of jolt reaction. However, they are a form of expression so are used in some magazines and t.v programmes and films which are aimed at audiences who won’t take offence.
3rd person narrative voice – formal non-taboo.
Identity theft happens all too often, people are not aware of how to prevent or protect themselves from identity theft; and recently some banks are suffering from loosing people’s data due to this crime. Many people shop online where they should be checking that the site they are purchasing from has a padlock safety feature, however it is a regular occurrence that people are failing to do so and loosing amounts from £100-1000.
One advantage of 3rd person narrative is that you can pull together a wide range of opinions and experiences; you can easily explore what people feel about a certain subject.  However a weakness of this narration is that it can sometimes appear a bit too formal or suggestive and it can be difficult to suggest emotion through 3rd person narrative.
2nd person narrative voice – informal taboo.
You could be the victim of identity theft you no? It can get you anytime; you could be surfing the net buying some skanky clothes when BAM! There it is and then before you no it you’ve lost hundreds of bloody pounds. You’ll be in deep shit then, probably look like a right wanker. So, remember: check your site before you buy!
One advantage of 2nd person narrative is that you can instruct people what to do very easily; also it is very fast paced and has an energetic voice. However, it can be too authoritative and doesn’t give you a lot of room for describing things.
