On The Run - Narrative.

English Language – Narrative.                                                                                                             Amy Stark.

I’d never really thought of life as being so incredibly weak before, but now – after everything that’s happened I realise, like water through a crack, it can slip through your fingers within seconds.

K went with the long leather coat, black knee length heels, fiery red wig and black sunglasses for tonight’s hit. She needed a different disguise on almost every hit, just in case there were unseen witnesses; of course, if the witness was spotted they went too, just like the victim.
She jumped down from the shop roof; leather blowing behind her like a personal flock of crows; imminent death approaching majestically. The woman in front was startled, jumped back and fell onto the cold rocky ally way pavement. K raised the 9mm and pointed it at the head of the woman with an olive shaped birth mark below her left eye, ‘Miss Montage?’
‘don’t do this I beg you; I can help you I promise!’ K was startled now; they’d all begged before of course but never promised help, ‘What do you mean?’ K asked hoping desperately that this would be the woman rumours had been flying about; the woman who had the ability to take down The Company and free all the agents who had been trapped by them. ‘I can destroy them’. That was all K needed she grabbed Montages hand and pulled her up ‘Come with me, if you’re serious I accept your offer to help and I’ll keep you safe, but if not... you’re as dead as a doornail’. Montage nodded her head confidently and they ran off into the night.
The Company had been creating a kind of super agent for centuries; children were taken from their homes as young as 5, an accident would be staged where their parents would die but it would look like the child had died too. K was taken when she was 6 trained up in every form of combat and sent out on her first hit by the age 17; she had no idea who her parents were or that they’d been killed by The Company until she was 26 now at 28 she wants her revenge and she wants to escape from The Companies grasp.
K decided to take Montage to Fisher’s house, another agent desperate for escape. It was a small hut in the middle of Sherwood forests; people rarely ventured that far in which was why Fisher liked it so much, out of the way of people of life. ‘So, we need to know exactly what you know. Every little detail Miss. Montage. You’re safe here, no-one knows where this hut is’ Fisher was being his usual straight to business self; but who could blame him? This could be the break through many agents had been waiting for. ‘You have to promise me something first...’ replied Miss. Montage.
‘What are you after?’ I asked her.
‘I’ll need protection, The Company are after me they know I can access their files; they’ll come after me and they will kill me! If you want me to tell you absolutely everything... I want your total protection until we’re safely away.’ K considered this for while, the extra weight of another person being with them; someone who had no idea how to protect themselves or how to avoid danger. There weren’t many other options however, ‘okay you have my word! But as soon as we’re safe you go. I mean that, you’re nothing but a way out to me.’
Miss. Montage began explaining all about how she’d been working for The Company for 15 years, as an I.T technician to the world but really she had been deleting the files of all of those victims the Company had had taken down. Each time a Hitman had killed his hit their bodies were buried and every single file about their lives was deleted in order to make it completely impossible for them to be tracked down or investigated. Miss. Montage told Fisher and K that she’d known what she was doing but had avoiding guilt by telling herself it had to be done that these people needed taking down; much like the kinds of things Fisher and K told themselves. But recently The Company had become too sure of themselves too sure that their precious agents would not go against them no matter what. The Company had begun asking the older agents to work with each other and train up the young children. This was a big mistake as it meant bit by bit a few agents had realised that all of their parents had died around the time they were all 5-6 years old; they realised that he company had been killing innocent parents for years, they realised they had possibly killed innocent people. ‘Okay so you’re basically in the same position we are? You hate The Company for what they’re doing and want to get out or better yet take them out? But unlike us, you know how, you have the actual ability to do so; how?’ K asked completely intrigued by what Montage could be offering.
‘Well, I know exactly how to access The Companies logs, I know how to delete every file they have on you guys, every file they have on every single agent they’ve ever hired. I know how to publically broadcast who The Company are and what they do without harming any agents.’ Montages response was unexpected it was as if K and Fisher were completely blown away as if everything they needed, everything they wanted had suddenly come to them right there and then.
They got started as soon as possible; Fisher gave Montage a state of the art laptop and K sat and watched impatiently as Montage got to work. It was around half an hour later when Montage managed to link up to the computers at The Company. ‘Right I’m in, so far looks like I’m undetected. I just need to find the files belonging to the agents, and then delete each one; it will take a while.’ Montage informed them. ‘That’s ok, just get it done.’ Fisher replied bluntly. Later on K was getting impatient it had taken Montage ages to find the files, she felt like something was going on like something wasn’t right; K had many issues with trusting people, who could blame her in this line of work? But when Montage had eventually found the files she tracked down those belonging to Fisher and K first and got rid of them. K breathed out a sigh of relief as she was the ‘deleting’ timer run along the page like everything she’d been worrying about was over; but she knew she’d still have to run when The Company realised what they had done they’d go after them with everything they had, and to say they had a lot was an understatement.
100 agents down, after 13 relentless hours, and only 4-5 thousand more to go. But that was when it happened when everything seemed to go wrong. ‘Oh fuck!’ that’s all Fisher said two little words and K’s hope came to an end. ‘They know, they must know what you’re doing what we’re doing.’ Fisher continued when he got his breath back
‘Why, what’s happened?’ Montage asked desperately.
‘They’ve sent out a hit for you both, K they’re offering 8 million. Every agent they have will be coming here right now!’ K  went white, she was the best The Company had but she was no match for every agent The Company had at once – not even the army of the United States had anything on all of them. Then she realised what Fisher had said ‘they’ve sent out a hit for you both... Why not you Fisher?’
‘They mustn’t know I’m involved, you were supposed to kill Montage and after not reporting back they must assume you two are working together to take them down; I’m sure they’ll realise as soon as the agents get here and see me’ He was right, K realised she had no reason to doubt Fisher’s intentions she had known him long enough and trusted him with everything. ‘Okay you’re right. We have to go, now!’
‘But k, I haven’t finished, what about everyone else, what about the others?’ Said Montage.
‘Ok that sounded really sweet and all but would you rather delete the files of the people who are coming to kill you or leave that for now and simply escape the people who are coming to kill [‘
and Montage stuffed the laptop into hers and ran for the door. They all ran for the door; although none of them had any idea where to go; they knew the agents would be here in less than 5 minutes but they had no idea where to run, so they simply ran north trying to submerse them further into the forest until hopefully they’d come out at some point.
K stopped, after what felt like a run that had lasted forever, she stopped still as house. Montage noticed first and stopped too ‘what, what’s wrong? She whispered. K simply placed her finger on her lips and pointed to the left, ‘they’re here’. Fisher hadn’t actually noticed them stop but had stopped himself a little further on, also here the agents slowly descending on them. There wasn’t anything K, Fisher and Montage could do; they were surrounded completely. Slowly they backed up against each other in an outward circle and awaited their inevitable fate. ‘If you’re going to kill us, do it now’ K said powerfully. ‘Now, now K, we’re only here for you and Miss. Montage; Fisher is free to go.’ K recognised the voice, it was Hodgins, someone she’d considered a friend. ‘Fisher go, you can save yourself, just go.’ But he didn’t he stayed with her and held onto her hand.
Suddenly, Montage ran as if she was so terrified she thought she had a chance of out running these insane people. She didn’t get far, ‘ooo looks like we have an early runner guys’ a million gun shots sounded all at once, when K looked back she saw Montages broken body lying on the floor barley resembling what it once was. K couldn’t wait any longer, she knew what was coming and if she was going out she was going out with pride. K quickly pulled her gun out of the back of her jeans and shot at Hodgins and the agents surrounding him, they hadn’t been expecting that; although Hodgins had managed to avoid her bullets the others hadn’t been so lucky 4-5 bodies lay on the ground. Her shots were answered by a full on cascade of bullets coming from every direction. K and fisher fell to the ground, their lives slipped away in seconds.

This piece of work was composed in an english languish course, however I have choosen to utelise it in my blog as it shows a range of writing skills.
